Baseball Swept On Road By RIC

NORTH PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Rivier baseball team traveled to Pontarelli Field on Saturday afternoon and fell to Rhode Island Col. in both games of a non-conference doubleheader.

The Raiders fell to 3-7 while the Anchormen improved to 6-3.

Rivier is back in action on Sunday, Match 17 with another road non-league twinbill on tap from Mass. Maritime's Hendy Field beginning at noon.

Rhode Island Col. 9, Rivier 8

The Anchormen walked-off on the visitors in game one of the day as Justin Wardwell singled with the bases loaded in the bottom half of the seventh to earn the victory.

Luis Colon of the Raiders went 2-for-5 with a team-best three RBI with a two-run homer in the fourth. JD Normand went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a walk.

Rhode Island Col. 9, Rivier 4

After putting up three runs in the top of the first, Rivier would muster just one more run in the fourth as RIC's bats came alive in the fourth and fifth to come from behind and take the 9-4 win.
