Baseball Falls To Wentworth On Walk-Off, 6-5

WEYMOUTH, Mass. – After falling into a 5-0 hole through two innings, Rivier baseball's five-run rally through the middle of the game fell short as Wentworth walked off on the Raiders in the bottom of the ninth, 6-5, at Libby Field on Wednesday night.

The non-conference loss dropped Rivier to 3-5 overall while the Leopards improved to 8-2.

A.T. DiPina pushed in three runs on two singles over the first two innings to help the hosts take a 5-0 lead.

Rivier's JD Normand got his team on the board as a dropped fly ball scored two runs in the top of the third to make it 5-2.

In the sixth, Dylan Aliberti produced a two-RBI single to cut the deficit to one run before Frank Gulezian tied things up at 5-5 in the top of the seventh.

With the bases loaded and two outs recorded in the bottom of the ninth, Bennett Leary stepped to the plate and recorded the game-winning RBI single.

Next up, the Raiders will head to Providence for a doubleheader at Rhode Island Col. beginning at noon on Saturday, March 16 at Pontarelli Field.
