Raiders advance in three straight

(Nashua, NH) The #2 seeded Rivier College (20-13; 12-1 GNAC) defeated #7 Lasell College in three straight sets 25-13, 25-14, 25-14 to advance to the semi-finals of the GNAC Tournament. The Raiders hit for an explosive .340 on offense while playing some stifling defense with 53 digs and 7 blocks to reach the 20 win plateau for the 7th straight season. Seniors Emileigh Cenedella (Townsend, Ma), Caitlin Callahan (Dedham, MA), and Lauren Saccoccio (Warwick, RI) were sensational in all areas for RIV. Cenedella passed a perfect 8/8 on receive while scooping up a match high 15 digs and adding 2 kills and 2 service aces. Callahan was just as solid on receive going 8/8 on the pass while lipping 10 Laser attacks and serving a match high 4 ace serves. Saccoccio stuffed the stat sheet with 7 digs, 2 blocks, 1 ace, while dishing out a match high 38 assists to direct the Raider offense.

Outside hitter Kenna Finlayson (Derry, NH) scored a match high 18 kills while chipping in on defense with 9 digs and middle hitters Nicole Peacock (Warwick, RI) and Nicole Boucher (Windham, NH) were dominant at the net with 9 and 6 kills respectively with only 1 error each. The sophomores also put back 2 Laser attacks each.

Sophomore Libero Jessica Amaral (E. Providence, RI) played well in the back row for RIV with 11 digs while junior opposite hitter Meghan Farrell (Marlborough, MA) hit a tidy .500 with 4 kills on 8 attempts. Sophomores Megan Dudek (W. Chesterfield, NH) and Morgan Peck (Sudbury, MA) came off the bench to combine for 3 blocks.

The Raiders will host #3 Emmanuel College in the semi-finals of the GNAC tournament inside the Doon on Thursday 11/3 at 7:00pm.
