Raiders take three straight against Norwich

(Nashua, NH) The Rivier College Women's Volleyball team climbed above the .500 mark for the first time this season as they took three straight sets from Norwich University in front of about 50 people inside the Muldoon Fitness Center.

Rivier (14-13, 10-1 GNAC) got out to a hot start in the first set thanks in large part to junior Kenna Finlayson (Derry, NH). She recorded seven kills while senior Lauren Saccoccio (Warwick, RI) contributed with eleven assists. The Raiders took the first set by a 25-20 score.

The second set was much of the same for Rivier. Finlayson again led the charge with another seven kills while senior Emileigh Cenedella (Townsend, MA) added 5 digs. The Raiders at one point lead the set by 10 points (22-12) as they went on take the set by a 25-14 final.

Rivier jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead in the third set. Sophomore Jessica Amaral (East Providence, RI) was at the forefront as she had two service aces. Classmate Nicole Peacock (Warwick, RI) added six kills and fellow sophomore Erin Sweeney (Chicopee, MA) chipped in with five assists. The Raiders recorded their biggest lead of the night in the third set when they led 22-10. The final score of set number three was 25-15.

Finlayson finished the night recording 20 kills while Cenedella added 14 digs. Saccoccio was the team leader in assists with 29. Peacock was second on the team in kills with 10 while sophomore Megan Dudek (West Chesterfield, NH) added four. Senior Caitie Callahan (Dedham, MA) had seven digs in the win.

The Raiders will travel to Mount Ida College for their next matchup as they compete in a GNAC tri-match with Mount Ida and Simmons College.
