Plymouth State tops Rivier

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Sophomore Allie Jones registered a team-high 11 kills Tuesday evening as Plymouth State University downed Rivier College in straight sets in a non-conference women's volleyball match at Foley Gymnasium. The Panthers won by scores on 25-19, 25-18 and 25-20 to even their season record at 5-5 overall. Rivier, which had swept PSU a year ago, fell to 4-8 overall.

Jones had a .474 attack percentage for PSU, with just two errors in 19 attempts. Junior Casey Stoodley added nine kills and sophomore Kaitlyn Tedeschi chipped in with eight kills and five blocks, with both also posting attack percentages over .400. Senior setter Sarah Cady ran the offense and finished with 28 assists as well as a team-high three service aces, and senior Danielle Stoodley recorded 20 digs.

The Raiders were led by junior Kenna Finlayson (Derry, NH), who recorded a match-high 14 kills. Senior setter Caitie Callahan (Dedham, MA) contributed 27 assists, and classmate Emileigh Cenedella (Townsend, MA) led the defense with 17 digs. Sophomore Nicole Peacock (Warwick, RI) made four blocks at the net.

PSU is back in action Saturday with a Little East Conference match at UMass Dartmouth, while Rivier returns home to host Keene State on Thursday.
