Rivier drops battle to Keene State, 3-2

Nashua, NH - Rivier College (4-9 overall; 1-1 GNAC) was defeated by Keene State College in 5 sets by the scores of 22-25, 25-20, 11-25, 25-20, 13-15. The Raiders, playing in their 6th game 5 sudden death match of the year, jumped out to an early 5-1 lead in the 5th stanza but couldn't hold on in the middle of the set and quickly went down 8-5 on the switch. Keene pushed the lead to 10-6 before Rivier made a late run to get within one at 14-13 but the rally fell short at 15-13.

Senior Lauren Saccoccio (Warwick, RI) returned to the line-up and registered a double double with 32 assists and 10 digs while junior Kenna Finlayson (Derry NH) ripped a match high 17 kills and 5 service aces. Sophomore's Nicole Peacock (Warwick, RI) and Nicole Boucher (Windham, NH) combined for 16 kills and 8 blocks while classmate Megan Dudek blocked well with 5 stuffs of her own. Back row specialists Emileigh Cenedella (Townsend, MA), Caitie Callahan (Dedham, MA), and Jess Amaral (E. Providence, RI) combined for 36 digs for the Raiders.

Rivier College 2 (22 25 11 25 13)

Keene State College 3 (25 20 25 20 15)

Rivier will travel to the Mid Coast Classic at Bates College and Bowdoin College in Brunswick Maine on Friday 9/22 and Saturday 9/23. Rivier will take on Bates College at Bates College at 7:00pm on Friday followed by 2 matches on Saturday at Bowdoin College. The 11:00am match Saturday will be against Colby Sawyer College followed by a 1:30pm match against Bowdoin College.
