Field Hockey falls on Senior Night to Regis

(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier University Field Hockey season came to an end this evening as visiting Regis College earned the 3-0 win in a rain soaked non-conference contest at Raider Field. The loss finishes the Rivier overall record at 4-14 while the win improves the Pride to 9-8.

Prior to the start of the game, the Raiders honored their two seniors – Amber Bennett (New Boston, N.H.) and Rebecca Melvin (Methuen, Mass.) – for their dedication and service to the program over the last four seasons.

Regis scored all three goals in the second half, including the first two just 20 seconds apart. Yvonne Abate found the back of the net at 37:22 as she collected a pass from Alycia Leconche and beat Rivier freshman goaltender Stevie Charest (Lisbon, Maine). 21 seconds later, Abate assisted on a goal from Aineen Callahan as the Pride extended their lead. Callahan would net her second goal of the game in the 48th minute to account for all of the scoring.

Charest made two saves on five shots while Regis' Raegan Heck was successful on all five shots she faced.

Regis' season will continue as the Pride are scheduled to close out their regular season on Saturday afternoon at Daniel Webster College.
