Field Hockey nets nine goals in win over Daniel Webster

Nashua, NH – Rivier University broke a scoreless tie at the half scoring nine in the second and downed host Daniel Webster 9-0 in a matchup of intracity field hockey programs Monday afternoon at Harvey Woods Field.

Linsey Roth (Tyngsboro, Mass.) and Chelsea Gomes (Epsom, N.H.) potted three goals apiece for the Raiders (1-2) while Jordan Parece (Pelham, N.H.) and Marykate Sweeney (Chicopee, Mass.) added a goal and assist each. Taylor Lirakis (Tewksbury, Mass.) had two assists.

Emily Foster (West Lebanon, N.H.) and Stevie Charest (Lisbon, Maine) split nearly even time combining for four saves in the Rivier net.

Michelle Davis (McKinney, Tex.) stopped 22 shots for the Eagles (0-2), including 15 in the second half.

Brittany Tierney (Napean, Ont.) and Kerrigan Toth (Litlestown, Penn.) both recorded a pair of shots on goal for the Eagles.

Rivier finished with a 31-4 shots on goal advantage.

Rivier will return to action when they host Fitchburg State on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. The Eagles will host New England College at 4:00 p.m.
