Field Hockey tripped up by Maine-Farmington, 5-0

(Farmington, Maine) In their second game of the weekend Maine excursion, the Rivier University Field Hockey team made their way over to Farmington from Standish for a non-conference Sunday contest with the University of Maine-Farmington. After suffering a 6-0 setback to Great Northeast Athletic Conference foe Saint Joseph's College yesterday, the Raiders were once again shutout as the Beavers took the contest by a 5-0 final.

Lisbon, Maine native Stevie Charest drew the start in goal for the Raiders. The freshman allowed an early goal in the first half as it was just a 1-0 score at the break. However, Charest would allow two second half tallies before being lifted for fellow freshman goaltender Emily Foster (West Lebanon, N.H.) who played the final 18+ minutes of action. Charest made eight saves on eleven chances while Foster allowed two goals on two shots in the loss for Rivier.

Mara Balboni (Oakland, Maine) scored twice for the Beavers and assisted on another goal as UMaine-Farmington improved to 5-0 on the season.

Rivier (1-5 overall) will return to Nashua, New Hampshire where they will host Wheelock College on Wednesday evening at Raider Field. Game time is scheduled for a 7pm start.
