Field Hockey falls to Castleton State, 7-2

(Castleton, Vt.) The Rivier University Field Hockey team began their 2015 season this afternoon with a 7-2 loss at Castleton State College.

Freshman Stevie Charest (Lisbon, Maine) got the starting nod in net for the Raiders and stopped 14 of 16 shots she faced in the first 35 minutes of play. Classmate Emily Foster (West Lebanon, N.H.) was the netminder in the second half and made 11 saves.

Sophomore Chelsie Hubicsak-Muldowney (Windham, N.H.) got the Raiders on the board in the second half as she was able to convert on a penalty corner play from junior Chelsea Gomes (Epsom, N.H.) in the 49th minute. Hubicsak-Muldowney would add another goal in the 62nd minute when she again converted on a penalty corner play, this time it was sophomore Taylor Lirakis (Tewksbury, Mass.) who sent the original pass in.

Rivier will enjoy some time off as they will host Simmons College on September 12th. The Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest is scheduled to begin at 11am up on Raider Field.
