Women’s Volleyball Caps Off Regular Season with Wins Over Anna Maria and Elms on Senior Day

NASHUA, N.H. – On a day honoring senior libero Sofia Pawlusik, the Rivier women's volleyball team battled to earn a pair of victories against Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) opponents Anna Maria and Elms to finish the regular season 17-9 (11-4 GNAC).

With the wins, the Raiders secured the fifth seed in the GNAC Tournament and will travel to No. 4 Lasell on Tuesday, Nov. 7 for the quarterfinal round at the Lasell Athletic Center, beginning at 7:00 p.m.

Rivier 3, Anna Maria 0

Rivier was able to hit .228 as a team while limiting the AMCATS to a -0.059 hitting percentage as the Raiders downed Anna Maria in straight sets in the opening match of the day. Lily Sills and Ali Rivera led the way offensively, as Sills recorded nine kills at a .533 clip while River posted a .267 hitting percentage on seven kills. Ryan Hicks (14) and Kaitlyn Miller (12) dished out 26 assists. Pawlusik's 14 digs were the most of any player in the contest.

Rivier 3, Elms 2

Despite holding a 2-0 lead in the match, the Raiders would have to grind out a five-set victory over Elms in the final match of the day. The Blazers would stun Rivier in sets three and four to prolong the match and keep it close until the very end, with the Raiders ultimately taking the final set by a score of 15-6.

Sills registered 43 attacks in the match, hitting .214. Her 16 kills were the most by any player.

Sam Driend recorded 24 digs while tacking on eight kills and five aces. Callie Nanos was there on four blocks and added eight kills.
