Pawlusik Reaches 1,000 Digs as Women’s Volleyball Splits at Castleton Tri-Match

CASTLETON, Vt. – The Rivier women's volleyball team fell to UMass Dartmouth before sweeping host Castleton in a Saturday non-conference tri-match at Glenbrook Gym.  The Raiders now hold a record of 12-7 on the season.

Senior libero Sofia Pawlusik recorded 36 digs over six sets of action on Saturday afternoon to eclipse the 1,000 digs milestone, becoming the ninth player in program history to accomplish the feat. Pawlusik now sits at 1,004 career digs with seven matches remaining in the regular season.

Next up, Rivier will head north to New London for Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) matchup with Colby-Sawyer on Tuesday, Oct. 24 with first serve set for 7:00 p.m.

UMass Dartmouth 3, Rivier 0

Rivier fell by set scores of 14-25, 16-25, 22-25 against the Corsairs, who improved to 15-6 with the victory.

Lily Sills had an efficient outing in the setback, notching six kills on 13 errorless swings to hit at a .462 percentage. Ryan Hicks and Brynn Roche each recorded two block assists, while Pawlusik notched a team-best 11 digs.

Rivier 3, Castleton 0

The Raiders turned it up a notch on offense in the second and final match of the day to down the Spartans by set scores of 25-20, 25-17, 25-20 and earn their 12th victory of the campaign.

Sills carried a lot of the workload, recording 14 kills on 22 attempts to hit .500 in the match. Both Ali Rivera and Brynn Roche earned seven kills, followed by Callie Nanos' six. Kaitlyn Miller (21) and Ryan Hicks (15) teamed up to dish out 36 assists to help the team to a .209 hitting percentage. Defensively, three Raiders recorded double-digit digs, with Pawlusik's 25 leading the charge, followed by Miller's 11 and Rivera's 10. Roche notched two solo blocks and two block assists for four blocks in the victory.
