Sills Tabbed GNAC Player of the Week

WINTHROP, Mass. – Junior middle Lily Sills averaged 3.50 kills per set at a .480 hitting percentage as she helped guide Rivier women's volleyball to a 2-1 (1-1 GNAC) week on her way to being named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Player of the Week, while also recording

Sills started the week off strong by notching 11 kills on the road against Keene St. to help boost the Raiders to a five-set, come-from-behind victory over the Owls. Sills was efficient, hitting at a .500 clip in the match.

Despite falling to Simmons in straight sets in the first of two matches in a Saturday GNAC tri-match, Sills led the team with 13 kills (4.33 per set) at a .550 percentage, adding four blocks and three digs. In the last match of the day, Sills was dominant in a five-set triumph over New England Col., notching 18 kills, the most in a five-set match in her career. Sills tacked on four aces and two blocks in the victory.

After the week, Sills now sits atop the GNAC leaderboard in the hitting percentage category at .377, followed by teammate Brynn Roche who is hitting at a .296 clip.

This is Sills' first career GNAC weekly award.

Rivier will return to GNAC play in a Wednesday night road matchup against Saint Joseph (Conn.) at Calhoun Gymnasium, with first serve set for 6:00 p.m.
