Women’s Volleyball Falls to Lasell, Downs Albertus Magnus in GNAC Tri-Match

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Rivier women's volleyball team split a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) tri-match against Lasell and Albertus Magnus on Saturday afternoon at the Messer Athletic Center. The Raiders fell to the Lasers in straight sets before downing the Falcons in four sets to now sit at 15-8 (9-3 GNAC) on the season.

This concluded a streak of seven consecutive road matches for the Raiders, who will return to home court at Muldoon Gymnasium on Wednesday, Nov. 1 for a matchup with GNAC foe Regis (Mass.) at 7:00 p.m.

Lasell 3, Rivier 0

Lasell hit .207 as a team, including a .400 second set, as they cruised to a straight sweep of the Raiders in the middle match of the day. Sam Driend led the Raiders offensive atrack with six kills on 14 errorless swings to hit at a .429 clip in the setback, while Ali Rivera registered a team-best 10 digs.

Rivier 3, Albertus Magnus 1

In the second match of the day, Rivier dropped the opening set before cruising past the Falcons over the next three sets to nab a 3-1 win. Ali Rivera achieved with a double-double, recording 13 kills and 11 digs. Ryan Hicks also had a double-double of her own, notching 19 assists and 12 digs in the triumph. Lily Sills was nearly perfect, with 12 kills at a .579 pace in the victory. Libero Sofia Pawlusik led the digs category with 16.
