Women’s Volleyball Falls to Wentworth, Sweeps Worcester St. in Non-Conference Matches 

BOSTON, Mass. – The Rivier women's volleyball team traveled to Boston to participate in a non-conference tri-match against Wentworth and Worcester St. on Saturday afternoon at Tansey Gymnasium, falling to Wentworth in straight sets before taking down Worcester St. in the same fashion. The Raiders now sit at 8-4 on the year. 
 
Rivier will hit the road again on Wednesday, Oct. 4th at 7:00 p.m. on the road to face off against Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) opponent, Emmanuel, at the Yawkey Center. 
 
Wentworth 3, Rivier 0 
 
Despite a back-and-forth first set, the Raiders would go on to hit -.070 in the opening match against the Leopards. Callie Nanos led the team with five kills while Sofia Pawlusik tallied 17 digs in the 3-0 loss. 
 
Helen Barthe would lead the Leopards with a double-double (10 kills, 10 digs), while teammate Riley Waggoner led Wentworth, hitting .357 on the match. 
 
Rivier 3, Worcester St. 0 
 
In the opening set, both teams would trade points until first-year outside Sam Driend would go on an eight-point serving bout, including two aces, to give the Raiders the lead all the way until set point to give the Raiders a 1-0 lead. 
 
Rivier found themselves down 8-0 to begin the second set off six-straight Casandra Millea serves. The Raiders would then hedge a comeback with kills by Driend and Lily Sills. The Raiders would continue to battle back into the set and finally take the set 26-24 thanks to three kills assisted by Kaitlyn Miller
 
In the third set, the Raiders would put up six-straight points capped off by three Hannah Raabaces in a row to give Rivier a commanding 21-10 lead. Riv would go on to close the set and match out with a Pawlusik ace and Driend kill.  
 
The Raiders would go on to hit at a .192 percentage in the match. Sam Driend led the team with nine kills, hitting a .240 clip. Pawluski tallied 12 digs in the win while Ryan Hicks and Miller would have 12and 11 assists, respectively. Rivier would tally 12 aces in the match.
