Emily O'Reilly selected to the NEWVA Senior Classic

(Beverly, Mass.) The New England Women's Volleyball Coaches Association (NEWVA) has released their 2015 NEWVA Annual Awards honoring the region's Player of the Year, Rookie of the Year, Coach of the Year, the All-New England Teams, All-Rookie team, and the NEWVA Senior Classic award winners.

Rivier University Senior setter Emily O'Reilly (San Francisco, Calif.) has been selected to participate in the NEWVA Senior Classic.

She was selected after being tabbed as an Honorable Mention on the AVCA All-New England Region team. O'Reilly guided the Raiders to the 14th best team hitting percentage in the Nation of .246. She wrapped up her stellar career with the Nation's 37th best assist per set average (10.08) and she was also selected to her fourth consecutive GNAC All-Conference team and third straight appearance as a First Teamer. The fourth year setter had a remarkable season for the Raiders that saw her eclipse the 4,000 career assist mark and become the University's All Time leader in career assists (4,403). O'Reilly finished the season with 1,058 assists and was also named the GNAC Offensive Player of the Week twice.

O'Reilly becomes just the fifth Raider to be selected to the Senior Classic; joining Nicole Peacock (2013), Kenna Finlayson (2012), Laura Ciummo (2008) and Lindey Heenan (2003) as Rivier participants in the NEWVA Senior Classic.

The 2015 NEWVA Senior Classic, which is sponsored by Adidas and The Graphic Edge, will take place on Sunday, December 6th starting at 10:00 a.m. at UMass Boston starting with a skills competition followed by the all-star match. Participating student-athletes can start checking in at 9:00 a.m.
