Women's Volleyball remains perfect in the GNAC, top Anna Maria in three sets

(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier University Women's Volleyball team defeated visiting Anna Maria College in straight sets this evening in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest held at the Muldoon Gymnasium. The Raiders are now 21-5 overall and a perfect 7-0 in the conference while the Amcats fall to 14-12, 4-4 GNAC.

Rivier earned their 14th conference win in a row, dating back to 2014, with scores of 25-16, 25-16 and 25-14.

Junior Lauren Silverman (Chelmsford, Mass.) continues to add to her stellar season as she led the team with 15 kills and 3 total blocks. Classmate Dana Mott (Medway, Mass.) helps to provide the 1-2 punch as she had 10 kills and a .833 hitting percentage. Senior Emily O'Reilly (San Francisco, Calif.) provided 32 assists and junior Molly McCormack (Ballston Lake, N.Y.) led the defensive effort with 8 digs. Sophomore Bethany Trevino (Westminster, Colo.) contributed seven digs in the win for Rivier.

The Amcats were paced by freshman Amari King (Lawrence, Mass.) who had 10 kills and senior Samantha Parker (Athol, Mass.) added 19 assists. Freshman Carolina Garcia (Springfield, Mass.) and junior Demi Carrero (Mamaroneck, N.Y.) each had eight digs apiece to led the team.

When the Raiders return to action on Thursday, it will be a battle for first place. Johnson & Wales University will enter the Muldoon Gymnasium with a 7-0 GNAC record and the winner of this upcoming match-up will likely determine the overall #1 seed in the 2015 GNAC Tournament, which begins on November 3rd. Anna Maria will travel to Simmons College on Saturday afternoon for a tri-match with the Sharks and Worcester Poly Institute.
