Women's Volleyball sweeps Suffolk in straight sets

(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier University Women's Volleyball team took care of business on their home court this evening as they swept visiting Suffolk University, 3-0 in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest inside the Muldoon Gymnasium. With their fourth straight win, the Raiders are now 14-4 on the season and a perfect 3-0 in the GNAC. Suffolk, meanwhile, falls to 4-13 and 1-5 GNAC.

Rivier won the three sets by scores of 25-16, 25-13 and 25-13.

Senior Jackie Pisecco (Chelmsford, Mass.) paced the Raider offense as she totaled a team and game high eight kills. Juniors Dana Mott (Medway, Mass.), Chelsey Hussey (Lebanon, Conn.) and Lauren Silverman (Chelmsford, Mass.) each added six kills with Silverman recording a .714 hitting percentage. Senior Emily O'Reilly (San Francisco, Calif.) provided 24 helpers and sophomore libero Bethany Trevino (Westminster, Colo.) led the defense with nine digs.

Freshman Talia Lombardo (Windham, N.H.) was the offensive leader for Suffolk as she had six kills and also collected nine digs, both team highs. Freshman Chidera Nwankwo (Canton, Mass.) had a solid night with four kills and sophomore Liz Kerek (Holbrook, Mass.) had eight assists.

The Raiders will host Bridgewater State University on Friday night at 8pm in Day One of the Inaugural Women's Volleyball Live Free or Die Invitational, hosted by Rivier University and Daniel Webster College. Suffolk will host both Plymouth State and Salem State in a non-conference tri-match on Saturday at the Regan Gymnasium.
