Women's Soccer downed by Emmaunel, 1-0

(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier University Women's Soccer team suffered their seventh loss of the season this evening as the visiting Saints of Emmanuel College earned the 1-0 at Raider Field in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action. Rivier now sits at 2-7-1 overall with a 0-6-0 mark in the conference while Emmanuel is atop the conference at 5-1-0 and 7-7-0 on the season.

Senior Molly Carey's (Swampscott, Mass.) goal in the 54th minute was all the scoring that the Saints needed. Carey was set up beautifully from junior Maggie Carey (Swampscott, Mass.).

Raider sophomore goalkeeper Lauren Goodspeed (Merrimack, N.H.) did everything she could to keep Emmanuel off the board. Goodspeed made 13 saves on the evening as Rivier was outshot 27-5 on the night.

Emmanuel sophomore Victoria Laroche (Hudson, N.H.) stopped both shots she saw on net for the complete game shutout.

Next up for Rivier will be another GNAC contest on Saturday afternoon as they travel to Mount Ida College for a 12pm kickoff in Newton, Mass. Emmanuel will also return to the pitch on Saturday as they host Albertus Magnus College in a 3pm GNAC kickoff.
