Women's Soccer blanked by Saint Joseph (Conn.), 2-0

(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier University Women's Soccer team dropped a tough 2-0 decision as they opened up Great Northeast Athletic Conference play this afternoon with the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) up at Raider Field. The teams were scoreless at the break but a pair of second half goals lifted the Blue Jays to an overall record of 2-2-0 and 1-0-0 in the GNAC while the Raiders fall to 1-2-0 overall, 0-1-0 GNAC.

Rivier sophomore goalkeeper Lauren Goodspeed (Merrimack, N.H.) made seven saves on nine shots she faced in net this afternoon. Her counterpart, USJ's Melissa Dodge was a perfect 4-for-4 as she recorded the shutout victory.

Jacyln Steeves and Morgan Skoly were the two who found the back of the net in the ball game as they scored at 62:33 and 67:00, respectively.

The Raiders will return to action on Tuesday evening as they host Green Mountain College for a 7pm non-conference contest at Raider Field. USJ will travel to Western Connecticut State on Wednesday night in their next schedule competition.
