Women's Soccer stalled by Simmons College, 4-0

(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier University Women's Soccer team fell this afternoon to the visiting Sharks of Simmons College, 4-0 in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest at Raider Field. The loss drops the Raiders' overall record to 2-6-1 and they are now 0-5-0 in the GNAC. Simmons, meanwhile, improves to 5-6-0 and 4-1-0 GNAC.

Kashka Gammon (Nashua, N.H.) scored a pair of second half goals and both Greer Gilbert (Falmouth, Mass.) and Ciara Forde (Quincy, Mass.) added solo tallies to account for all the scoring in the contest. Gammons' second goal came off a well-executed corner kick play. Victoria Russo (Braintree, Mass.) lofted a perfectly placed ball into the 6 yard box where Gammon was able to leap and head the ball past the Raider goalkeeper.

The Raiders had some chances to get on the board but were unsuccessful as Simmons' Brianna Hayes (Manorville, N.Y.) stopped all four shots she faced for the shutout victory. Sophomore Lauren Goodspeed (Merrimack, N.H.) made 12 saves for Rivier on the afternoon.

Next up for the Raiders will be another GNAC contest on Wednesday evening as they host Emmanuel College in a 7pm kickoff at Raider Field. Simmons will also be in conference action on Wednesday as they travel to Norwich University.
