Women's Soccer drops GNAC game to Saint Joseph's (Me.)

(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier University Women's Soccer team fell this afternoon at home to Saint Joseph's College (Me.) by a 1-0 final in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action. It was the Raiders' sixth one goal decision this season, third straight, and their record now stands at 6-8-0 overall with a 1-7-0 mark in the GNAC. Saint Joseph's climbs to 8-6-1 overall and 5-2-1 in conference play.

Rivier was heavily outshot throughout this contest as the Monks were able to unload 35 total shots in the game. 21 of which were placed on net where Rivier freshman goalkeeper Lauren Goodspeed (Merrimack, N.H.) was able to turn away 19 of them, her career high for saves in a game. Sophomore back Amanda Wickens (Tyngsboro, Mass.) was credited with a defensive save as she was able to head a ball of out the net. Saint Joseph's freshman net minder Brooke Troup (East Bridgewater, Mass.) was able to stop the only shot she faced for the team's third consecutive shutout.

The Monks were able to capitalize on a scoring chance in the 64th minute as junior Hannah LeBlanc (Andover, Mass.) lifted a shot over the outstretched leaping Goodspeed for her sixth goal of 2014. Senior Danielle Daigle (Dayton, Maine) was credited with the assist as she made a solid pass to LeBlanc inside the 18'.

Both squads will be back in GNAC action on Saturday afternoon. Rivier will host Norwich University at 3:30pm while Saint Joseph's will travel down to Providence, Rhode Island for a 2:30 kick off with Johnson and Wales University.
