Women's Soccer unlucky in 1-0 loss to Suffolk

(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier University Women's Soccer team dropped a tough 1-0 decision this afternoon to visiting Suffolk University in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action at Raider Field. The loss sends the Raiders below the .500 mark on the season to 6-7 and they currently have a 1-6 conference record. Suffolk, meanwhile, improves to 4-5-3 overall and 3-1-3 in the GNAC.

Suffolk scored the game's only goal in the 64th minute as freshman Alexandra Nagri (Salem, N.H.) took a feed from sophomore Shannon Simmons (Arlington, Mass.) to net her fourth goal of the season.

Rivier freshman goalkeeper Lauren Goodspeed (Merrimack, N.H.) made 12 saves on the afternoon. Her counterpart, senior Melissa Brouillette (Shelton, Conn.) stopped all 10 shots she faced for Suffolk.

The Raiders will have a quick turnaround as they host Saint Joseph's College of Maine on Monday afternoon in another GNAC contest. Game time is scheduled for 3:30pm. Suffolk will travel to Lasell College in their next GNAC tilt on Tuesday.
