Muchemore and Grumblatt Combine for 41 in Win Over Elms

NASHUA, NH: Rivier women's basketball blew past Elms College this afternoon in conference action.

THE BASICS:

- Date: 1/14/23

- Score: Rivier 81, Elms 64

- Records: Rivier (8-8, 5-3 GNAC), Elms (5-9, 1-7 GNAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  After a slow first quarter, both teams picked up the pace of play. The Raiders secured a halftime lead of 35-28 after scoring 26 points in the second quarter. Riv would come out of the half and drop another 27 points in the third quarter compared to Elms' 15 points. The Blazers did outscore the Raiders in the fourth, but the damage was already done.

Hannah Muchemore (Nashua, NH) led all scorers with 23 points. Lyric Grumblatt (Manchester, NH) was just behind her with 18 points. Bea Stafford (Saunderstown, RI) contributed 15 points in an impressive performance in the paint.

- The Blazers were led by Kayla Jackson, who finished with 21 points and nine rebounds. Brianna Metellus added 15 points of her own in the effort to complement her eight rebounds.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-  Rebounds: Elms 45, Rivier 36

-  Assists: Rivier 14, Elms 10

-  Shooting Percentage: Rivier 41.9%, Elms 38.8%
