Women's Basketball: Raiders' season ends at home; fall to Suffolk 88-45 on Senior Day

NASHUA, N.H. – The 2019-2020 Rivier University Women's Basketball season came to an end this afternoon as the Raiders dropped the finale, 88-45 to visiting Suffolk University in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action. The Raiders wrap up the season with an overall record of 4-20 while holding a 0-10 mark against the conference. The Rams, who appeared in their last regular season GNAC game, improve to 17-8 on the season and 8-3 against the league.

Prior to the start of the contest, the Women's Basketball program honor their two graduating seniors who appeared in the final collegiate contest. Captain Jackelyn Robarge (Belmont, N.H.) and Keara Sheehan (Chelmsford, Mass.) both earned the start tonight and played well despite the end result.

Robarge ended her four-year career with five points and an assist while Sheehan collected one rebound in her seven minutes of action. Freshman Arianna Motivala (Nashua, N.H.) led the team with 15 points scored on 5-of-11 shooting from the floor. Classmate Heather Ries (Mont Vernon, N.H.) ended her night with nine points and eight rebounds while sophomore Cydney Lessard (Derry, N.H.) chipped in with eight points in the loss. Junior Catherine Torpey (Melrose, Mass.) also finished with eight points for the Raiders.

Suffolk saw eleven different student-athletes register points on the evening led by junior Jenn-Rose DiCecco (Falmouth, Mass.), who finished with 15 points and six steals. Senior Alexis Hackett (Charlton, Mass.) added 13 points and eight rebounds while sophomore Natalie Fraioli (Sutton, Mass.) contributed with 12 points on 5-of-6 shooting from the field.

With the victory, the Rams were awarded the overall #4 seed in the 2020 GNAC Women's Basketball tournament. Suffolk will host fifth-seeded Albertus Magnus on Tuesday night with a 7pm scheduled tip-off.
