Motivala, Chappell named Student-Athletes of the Month for February.

NASHUA, N.H. – The Rivier University Athletic Department is pleased to announce that freshman Arianna Motivala of the Women's Basketball team has been selected as the Rivier Female Student-Athlete of the Month and senior Issaiah Chappell of the Men's Basketball team has been named the Rivier Male Student-Athlete of the Month for February 2020. 

Arianna Motivala finished the month off with some impressive performances against two very competitive programs from the Great Northeast Athletic Conference.  On February 19th, Movtivala led the way for the Raiders with shooting a game high 15 points while also collecting six rebounds. Three days later she led the team with 15 points scored on 5-of-11 shooting from the floor.

Taking it a bit further back to February 11th the forward recorded a team-high 19 points on 8-of-15 shooting from the floor against Lasell University and during the first week of play, Motivala was selected as the GNAC Rookie of the Week.

Motivala finished the season with a team high 35.7 % from the floor, recorded 12.1 points per game and lead the team this season in points scored at 290. 

Chappell had a stellar month wrapping up his season as the leading scorer for the Raiders.   He had several impressive showings through the month.  Starting at Lasell University scoring a game high 35 points on 14-of-29 from the floor. A week later he recorded his third game of the season with 30+ points as he shot 10-for-19 from the floor against Albertus Magnus College.

Chappell’s greatest accomplishment as a Raider was earned on February 15th in Providence, Rhode Island against Johnson & Wales University as he became the 14th Rivier Men's Basketball student-athlete to reach 1,000 career points.  

The guard finished 3rd in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference for points per game with an average of 21.3, a total of 490 on the season.
