Men's Basketball: Raiders stumble to Suffolk

BOSTON, MASS. – The Rivier Men's Basketball team fell 85-61 to Suffolk University during a Greater Northeast Athletic Conference matchup in the Brown & Plofker Gym. The loss brings the Raiders to 3-16 (0-6 GNAC) on the season while the Rams improve to 11-9 (3-3 GNAC) overall.

The Raiders were led by senior Issaiah Chappell (Sunapee, N.H.) who had a team high 18 points and seven rebounds. Freshman Nikolas Pignone (Stoneham, Mass.) pitched in with eight points while classmate Kevin Redler (Ellington, Conn.) also put up eight points on the night. Junior Jack McCarthy (Rowley, Mass.) added eight points and collected three rebounds for the night.

The Rams were led by sophomore Max Bonney-Liles (Hudson, N.H.) with a team high 18 points. Senior George Gillakis (Lowell, Mass.) added 12 points while classmate Jonathan Eng (Wayland, Mass.) added 11 points and collected three rebounds. Sophomore Connor Byrne (Melrose, Mass.) chipped in with nine points and grabbed six rebounds on the night.

Rivier continues conference play with a home game against Albertus Magnus College on Saturday in the Muldoon Gym with a scheduled tip-off at 3:00 p.m. Suffolk also continues conference play with an away game against Emmanuel College with a scheduled tip-off at 5:00 p.m.
