Men's Basketball: Raiders slip against Plymouth State

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The Rivier University Men's Basketball team dropped an in-state non-conference contest this evening to Plymouth State University, 94-63 inside Foley Gymnasium on the campus of PSU. The Raiders are now 2-3 on the season after the setback while the Panthers improve to 3-1.

Junior Jack McCarthy (Rowley, Mass.) led the way for the Raiders in a reserve effort as he came off the bench to lead the team with 11 points. The veteran forward shot 4-of-9 from the floor in his 21 minutes of action. Senior Issaiah Chappell (Sunapee, N.H.) added 10 points and sophomore Pharaoh Davis (Plainville, Mass.) chipped in with nine points. Freshman Nesta Roberts (Manchester, Conn.) contributed six points and five rebounds for Rivier.

Dante Rivera was the overall game leader as he netted 18 points on 7-for-13 shooting from the floor for Plymouth State. Three other Panthers also hit double-figures with Devin Cooper (14 points) and Manny Alisandro (10 points) recording their efforts in a starting role. Manny Sanchez scored 13 points off the bench and Alisandro pulled down seven rebounds in the win.

The Raiders will turn the page quickly as their next scheduled contest is set for Thursday night at Wentworth Institute of Technology. Game time is set for 7pm in Boston, Massachusetts. Plymouth State will have a little more rest before their next contest at Elms College on Saturday afternoon.
