Men's Basketball: Raiders suffer tough loss to Regis College

NASHUA, N.H. – The Rivier University Men's Basketball team saw a six-point lead disappear over the final two minutes as they fell in heart-breaking fashion this evening to visiting Regis College, 82-78 in front of a full house inside the Muldoon Gymnasium. This was the second meeting of the season between the two teams however this was an official Great Northeast Athletic Conference matchup. The Raiders are now 4-10 overall on the season with a 0-1 mark in the league while the Pride improve to 6-9, 2-0 in the conference.

Senior Issaiah Chappell (Sunapee, N.H.) led all scorers with a game-high 22 points on 7-of-13 shooting from the floor. Sophomore Pharaoh Davis (Plainville, Mass,) added 14 points and junior Tyler Bradenese (Billerica, Mass.) chipped in with 11 points on the night. Freshman Nesta Roberts (Manchester, Conn.) shined bright off the bench as he added 10 points and pulled down four rebounds.

Regis was guided by the double-double effort of junior Marc Trinidad (Bronx, N.Y.), who finished with 18 points and 15 rebounds. Three other members of the Pride ended with double-digit outputs; junior Devante Thompson (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) collected 15 points while classmate Juvens Dalger (Oakland Park, Fla.) finished with 14 points and senior Dimitri Rosa (Tiverton, R.I.) ended his night with 11 points.

Both squads will remain in GNAC action when they return to the court. The Raiders will travel to Anna Maria College on Wednesday night and Regis will host Albertus Magnus College on Tuesday evening. Both contests will be 7pm tipoffs.
