Women's Basketball: Raiders setback by Albertus Magnus, 95-74

NASHUA, N.H. – The Rivier University Women's Basketball team suffered a 95-74 setback this afternoon to visiting Albertus Magnus College, 95-74 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action inside the Muldoon Gymnasium. The loss sends the Raiders to 4-16 overall on the season with a 0-7 mark against the conference while the Falcons improve to 15-6 overall, 5-2 in league play.

Freshman Heather Ries (Mont Vernon, N.H.) led the team with her second career double-double, finishing with 22 points and 11 rebounds. Ries shot 8-of-14 from the floor, including knocking down six three-point attempts. In all, five of the six Raiders finished with double figures. Sophomore Alexandra Grumblatt (Manchester, N.H.) also recorded a double-double with 11 points and 15 rebounds while freshman Jaden Smith (Nashua, N.H.) chipped in with 12 points. Senior Jackelyn Robarge (Belmont, N.H.) and junior Catherine Torpey (Melrose, Mass.) added 11 and 10 points, respectively, in the loss. Freshman Arianna Motivala (Nashua, N.H.) registered her career high of 12 assists on the afternoon.

Albertus Magnus saw freshman Kyah Nowlin (Stamford, Conn.) reach the game high of 30 points on 11-of-22 shooting from the field. Senior Shyla Osmond (New Haven, Conn.) finished her night with a double-double of 26 points and 11 assists while junior Andreah Orr (Danbury, Conn.) totaled 11 points and 10 rebounds. Also finishing with a double-double was senior Rah-Rah Thompson (Bridgeport, Conn.), who ended the game with 10 points and 10 rebounds in the win.

Both squads will be back in conference action when they return to action this week. Rivier will entertain Lasell University on Tuesday night with a 7pm game time at the Muldoon. Albertus will host Emmanuel College on Wednesday night. Game time is scheduled for 6pm.
