Baseball Downed by Pilgrims
NASHUA, NH: Rivier baseball fell this afternoon to non-conference opponent New England College at Holmen Stadium.
THE BASICS:
- Date: 4/13/23
- Score: NEC 11, Rivier 4
- Records: NEC (8-14), Rivier (7-17)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Pilgrims struck first in the top of the opening frame on a Lachlan Rees double to dead center field. No one would score again until the top of the fourth when NEC plated three runs, highlighted by a tape measure shot by Ryan Cote to deep left field.
- The Raiders would answer back in the bottom of the fourth with two runs. One came across on a double to right center field by Matt Labrecque (Manchester, NH). The second run would score on a sac fly by Owen Medlock (Merrimack, NH). Zack White (Long Beach, CA) would pick up the last RBI for the Raiders in the bottom of the fifth on a single to center field. The Grims would plate seven more throughout the game to get the final.
- Stephen Dunham would get the win (2-0) during a staff day for the team, going one inning and allowing just one hit. Patrick Young (Billerica, MA) would be tagged with the loss (0-3), allowing four hits and one earned run.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS: Top Performers
- JD Normand was 2-for-3 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBIs.
- Brett Patnode was 3-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored.
- Labrecque was 1-for-3 with an RBI.
