Women's Basketball rolls to victory over Simmons

(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier University Women's Basketball team earned a Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest this afternoon over visiting Simmons College, 69-61 inside the Muldoon Gymnasium. The win sends the Raiders to 3-0 in the GNAC and an overall record of 7-6. Simmons slides to 6-8 and 0-3 in league play.

Kaylee Kacavas (Dracut, Mass.) led the offensive effort for the Raiders as she totaled 20 points over her 30 minutes of play. Senior Savanna Butterfield (Londonderry, N.H.) pulled down 14 rebounds while adding 11 points herself. Caitlyn Perry (Nashua, N.H.) also chipped in with 18 points and 7 assists in the win for Rivier.

Simmons was paced by senior Nicole Alberghini (Northboro, Mass.) with 15 points and freshman Francesca Corsinetti (Johnston, R.I.) provided help with 14 points. Presley Silva (Wilmington, Mass.) contributed with 6 rebounds and 9 points.Jamie Zoldy (Watertown, Mass.) also chipped in with 10 points and 3 rebounds in the loss for the Sharks.

Both teams will be back in conference action when they return to the court on Monday afternoon. Rivier will travel south to New Haven, Connecticut for a 1pm tilt with Albertus Magnus College. Simmons will host the University of Saint Joseph at 7pm in Boston.
