Field Hockey Stumbles in Regular Season Finale at Lasell

NEWTON, Mass. The Rivier field hockey team lost 5-0 to Lasell in its final regular season Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) game on Tuesday night at Grellier Field. The team has finished the campaign with an 8-4 record in conference play and will now await Wednesday night's results which will determine playoff seedings.

In the first half, the Lasers' (14-1, 11-1 GNAC) Sheridan Blaha tapped a pair of goals with assists credited to Abbey Playle and Lily Stark, to put Lasell up by two.

In the third and fourth quarters, Playle of Lasell recorded two unassisted goals sandwiched around a Kaylene Ellis unassisted tally to push the score to 5-0.

Lasell outshot Rivier 25-13, while the Raiders were awarded 10 penalty corners over the Lasers' eight.

Kylie Coupal of Riv made 11 saves in goal.

Rivier will travel to New London to take on Colby-Sawyer in the GNAC Quarterfinals on Saturday, Oct. 28, with a start time of 1:00 p.m. from Veitch Field.
