Field Hockey’s Winning Streak Ends at Keene St.

KEENE, N.H. – On Thursday night, the Rivier field hockey team fell to Keene St. in a non-conference matchup at the Owl Athletic Complex, falling to the Owls by a final score of 7-3. The Raiders, who now sit at 5-7 on the campaign, had their winning streak stopped at four games in the setback, as Keene St. jumped to 9-6 overall.

The hosts would control the game, scoring seven consecutive goals over a 45:46 span to hold a 7-0 lead early in the fourth quarter. Madison Streeter would thwart the Owls' shutout bid, scoring Rivier's first goal with 11:47 remaining. From there, Sydney Spenard and Abby Nadeau would add two more goals to cut the deficit to four before time expired.

Irini Stefanakos led the way for the Owls with three goals and two assists, good for eight points on the outing. Clara Gorman made two saves for the Owls in her eighth win of the season.

Rivier will return to Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action on Saturday, Oct. 14 when they travel to face off against Saint Joseph (Conn.) at 3:30 p.m. from the USJ Athletics Complex.
