Field Hockey Falls to the Wildcats 

NASHUA, N.H. – The Rivier field hockey lost 4-0 to the Wildcats of JWU-Providence in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play at home on Merrill Field on Saturday afternoon. 

JWU-Providence (7-0-0, 4-0-0 GNAC) controlled the game, firing off 34 shots and halting Rivier (1-5-0, 1-3-0 GNAC) to one. 

The Wildcats collected back-to-back goals in the first quarter. Just under a minute into the game, Kaitlyn Freeman got the scoring started to put the Wildcats up 1-0, with an assist from Mackenzie Wolf. At 2:12, JWU-Providence struck again with a goal from Izzy Ward with help from Margaret Johnson. 

The Raiders were able to restrict the Wildcats to a scoreless second and third quarters before the visitors would again find the net in the fourth quarter, when Ava Pontes scored with an assist from Johnson. Johnson then knocked in a goal, with an assist generated by Wolf, with just over one minute to play.  

JWU-Providence accumulated 20 penalty corners in the outing, while Riv earned two.  

Raiders' Kylie Coupal held her own in net today, boosting her season save percentage to .790 after making 17 saves. 

The Raiders are back at Merrill Field Tuesday, Sept. 26 for a non-conference matchup against Thomas.
