STANDISH, Maine – The Rivier women's volleyball team fell in four sets to Saint Joseph's (Me.) and Regis (Mass.) in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) tri-match hosted by the Monks on Saturday afternoon at the Harold Alfond Center.
The pair of losses dropped the Raiders to 11-13 overall and 6-5 against conference opponents.
Next up, Rivier will head south to UMass Boston for a 6:00 p.m. non-conference battle with the Beacons on Wednesday, Oct. 30 at the Clark Athletic Center.
St. Joseph's (Me.) 3, Rivier 1
Despite a 16-kill performance from junior outside hitter Ali Rivera, the Raiders were limited to a .093 hitting percentage in a four-set loss to the Monks.
Rivier dropped the first two sets by two points before stealing the third set, 25-18. In the fourth, Saint Joseph's offense put together its best showing of the outing, hitting at a .231 clip with 11 kills to earn its seventh conference win of the year.
Regis (Mass.) 3, Rivier 1
Rivier earned a hard-fought win in set one, taking the game 26-24 as senior middle Brynn Roche concluded the set with a kill following sophomore libero Hannah Raab's ace.
From there, the Pride took control using a balanced offensive attack to take the final three sets to earn their 18th victory of the campaign and 10th against conference opponents.
