Women’s Volleyball Falls to Babson and Nichols

NASHUA, N.H. – The Rivier women's volleyball team fell in straight sets to Babson and Nichols on Saturday in a non-conference tri-match at the Muldoon Center.

The Raiders fell to 10-9 overall with the results.

Prior to the final matchup of the day, Rivier celebrated its three senior captains, Ryan Hicks, Brynn Roche, and Lily Sills for their four years of dedication to the program.

Babson 3, Rivier 0

Despite hitting at a .317 team percentage, Rivier was handed a 3-0 (16-25, 19-25, 12-25) loss by the Beavers who entered the day just outside the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division III National Poll. Babson improved to 17-1 overall with the win and later added to their winning percentage with an afternoon victory over Nichols.

Babson hit at a .480 team percentage in the win, with Lauren Gips leading the way with 16 kills on 24 errorless attempts.

Rivier was led by junior right side Callie Nanos who produced four kills at a .444 clip and sophomore outside Sam Driend who registered a .400 hitting percentage with six kills. Junior outside Ali Rivera recorded a team-best 10 kills at a .370 clip. Senior setter Ryan Hicks notched 22 assists in the setback. Sophomore libero Hannah Raab contributed with 12 digs on the defensive end.

Nichols 3, Rivier 0

Coming off a loss to Babson in straight sets, Nichols snapped its five-game skid with a sweep over the Raiders. Rivier fell by set scores of 29-31, 19-25, 17-25.

Luna Colozzo and Haylee Granato of the Bison led the offensive charge with 11 and eight kills, respectively.

Riv's junior outside Ali Rivera posted a 10 kill, 10 dig double-double in the loss.
