Deanna Purcell named to the 2015 D3hoops.com All-Northeast Team

WINTHROP, Mass. – Rivier University senior Deanna Purcell (Hudson, N.H.) and Norwich University senior Aliah Curry (Windsor, Mass.) have both been named to the 2015 D3hoops.com Women's Basketball All-Northeast Region Fourth Team, it was announced on Monday.

Purcell was the second-leading scorer in the GNAC this season and was also named to her fourth All-Conference First team along with being selected as the 2015 GNAC Women's Basketball Player of the Year.

She averaged 21.6 points on 49.3 percent shooting, which was third best among league leaders. She also led the GNAC at 4.6 assists per game and her 8.8 rebounds ranked seventh in the conference.

Purcell, who led the Raiders to the fifth seed in the GNAC Tournament, also shot 39.9 percent from three-point range and an even 80 percent from the free-throw line.

Purcell departs the program as the all-time career points leader with 2,192 career points. 

Curry, meanwhile, led the GNAC in points per game, collected her fourth career all-conference selection after being named first team last season and second team during her freshman and sophomore years. She was also named to the 2014-15 GNAC All-Tournament Team for the second time in her career after scoring 25 points against Anna Maria College in the quarterfinal round before adding 26 additional points in the Cadets' loss to Johnson & Wales University in the semifinal round. Curry was named to the GNAC All-Tournament Team in 2013-14 after leading the Cadets to the championship title before falling short to St. Joseph's of Maine.

Curry departs the program as the all-time career points leader with 2,267 career points after averaging 22.1 points, 3.6 rebounds and 4.0 assists in 2014-15.

In addition, Curry was named to the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) All-Region Second Team and has been chosen to play in the NEWBA Senior All-Star Game on March 28 in Northampton, Mass.
