Women's Basketball upended by Saint John Fisher, 89-69

(Pittsford, N.Y.) The Rivier University Women's Basketball team competed against the hosts, Saint John Fisher College in the 2014 Woodcliffe Hotel and Spa Invitational. When the final horn sounded, the Raiders were on the losing side of an 89-69 score.

Sophomore Savanna Butterfield (Londonderry, N.H.) had a solid night for Rivier as she knocked down 19 points and collected the game high of 18 rebounds. Senior Deanna Purcell (Hudson, N.H.) had the game high of 32 points as she went 11-for-18 from the floor and also collected 12 rebounds for her fourth double-double of the year. Sophomore Caitlyn Perry (Nashua, N.H.) finished with 9 points in the loss.

Saint John Fisher had three student-athletes in double figures, headed by Portia Velasco's 26 points. Mary Kate Cusack added 23 points and Claire Walsh dropped in 11 points in a reserve effort.

The loss sends the Raiders (1-5) to the consolation game against Goucher College tomorrow afternoon.
