Women's Basketball drops non-conference contest to Endicott, 70-59

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. - Rivier University was outscored 38-25 in the second half as they fell to Endicott College, 70-59 in the third-place game of the 2014 Tyler Tip-Off Tournament, hosted by Smith College. 

The Raiders of Rivier (0-2) led by two (34-32) at the half, and held that advantage until the 16:44 mark, when the Gulls went on a 16-2 run over the next six-and-a-half minutes to take a commanding 12-point lead (56-44).

Senior all-tourney pick Deanna Purcell (Hudson, N.H./Alvirne) was one of four Raiders in double figures, scoring 21 points to go with eight rebounds. Sophomore guard Caitlyn Perry (Nashua, N.H./Nashua South) added 13 points and three assists, while sophomore forward Savannah Butterfield (Londonberry, N.H./Tilton School) chipped in 12 points and four steals.

Endicott senior guard Kayleen Whall (Foxboro, Mass./Foxboro) led all scorers with 28 points and added a game-high 23 rebounds. Junior forward Kelsey Cuddy (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand) went 9-of-11 from the charity stripe to finish with 17 points, while junior guard Nicole Catizone (Woburn, Mass./Arlington Catholic) tossed in 11 points. For her efforts, Whall was named to the All-Tournament team.

Middlebury's Sarah Kaufman (Boulder, Colo./Fairview), Elizabeth Knox (Falmouth, Mass./Falmouth) and Smith's Amanda Barriscale (Mill Valley, Calif./Tamalpais) rounded out the All-Tournament selections.

The Gulls return to action on Wednesday, Nov. 19 when they host the #22-ranked Bowdoin College, while the Raiders look to bounce back against Plymouth State on Tuesday, Nov. 18.
