Deann Purcell becomes All-Time Leading Scorer in 102-83 win over Daniel Webster

(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier University Women's Basketball team had three student-athletes reach 20+ points as they earned their first win of the season this evening with a 102-83 victory over cross-town foe Daniel Webster College. Senior Deanna Purcell (Hudson, N.H.) scored a season high 28 points as she broke John McMahon '07 school record of 1,738 points. The 5-10 guard is just five games into her senior season and she has totaled 1,754 points to date. Purcell also collected 10 rebounds for her third double-double of the year.

It was also a banner night for sophomore Caitlyn Perry (Nashua, N.H.) as she led the game with 29 points, a career high, with six three-pointers. Classmate Savanna Butterfield (Londonderry, N.H.) also chipped in with 22 points as she shot 10-for-14 from the floor. Also playing extremely well this evening was sophomore Caitlin Bulger (Quincy, Mass.) who dished out 8 assists to go along with her 10 points.

Daniel Webster got out to a hot start as they scored a season high 48 first half points. Sophomore Kayla Free (Quincy, Mass.) shot a career best 7-for-15 from the floor with 6-of-10 from beyond the arc. She led the team in scoring with 23 points as the Eagles had a total of four student-athletes in double figures. A pair of Lawrence, Mass. freshman added some spark off the bench as Natasha Santana and Escarlin Reynoso added 18 and 13 points, respectively. Junior Ashley England (Old Town, Maine) was the other double-figure scorer as she finished with 14 points.

The Raiders (1-4) will have a short break as they will travel out to Rochester, New York for the Saint John's Fisher Tournament. Rivier will pair up with SJF in the opening round of the tournament on November 29th. Daniel Webster (0-4) will begin NECC play in their next contest as they travel to Elms College on December 4th.
