Women's Volleyball sends Seniors out with sweep of Southern Maine

(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier University Women's Volleyball team honored their most successful senior class this evening prior to the start of their 3-0 win over the University of Southern Maine. Seniors Ally Stefanovski (Rochester, N.Y.), Chelsey Hussey (Lebanon, Conn.), Dana Mott (Medway, Mass.), Lauren Silverman (Chelmsford, Mass.) and Molly McCormack (Ballston Lake, N.Y.) have gone a remarkable 110-24 over the last four seasons with a pair of Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championships and two trips the NCAA Tournament.

The Raiders, who are now 27-3 on the season, took the straight sets from the Huskies by scores of 25-21, 25-18 and 25-16. Southern Maine is now 15-12 in 2016.

Mott led the way offensively for the Raiders as she totaled a game high 14 kills and a .417 hitting percentage. McCormack added 11 kills and seven digs while Silverman chipped in with nine kills and three total blocks. Sophomore Hayley Macken (Clifton Park, N.Y.) directed the offense to a .248 hitting percentage with 33 assists and junior libero Bethany Trevino (Westminster, Colo.) controlled the back line with 17 digs. Hussey finished the evening with six kills and Stefanovski added two service aces in their final home game of their careers.

The Huskies were paced by junior Jess Williamson (Goffstown, N.H.), who totaled nine kills and twelve digs – both team highs. Sophomore Nicole Schmitz (Saint Paul, Minn.) and junior Robbi Termentozzi (Littleton, Colo.) each added six kills in the loss as senior Megan Nilson (Granby, Conn.) dished out 19 assists. Freshman Jenna Graves (Corinth, Texas) provided additional help along the back line with nine digs in the loss.

Up next, Rivier will close out the regular season with a GNAC Tri-Match on Saturday afternoon as they travel to Boston, Mass. for a pair of contests with Emmanuel College and Saint Joseph's College of Maine. Southern Maine will also return to action on Saturday as they host Western Connecticut State University and Unity College beginning at 12pm.
