Trevino (WVB), Fletcher (WSO) named GNAC Players of the Week

(Winthrop, Mass.) The Great Northeast Athletic Conference announced earlier today that both junior Bethany Trevino (Westminster, Colo.) and freshman Brittany Fletcher (Tewksbury, Mass.) were selected as GNAC Players of the Week presented by Corvias in their respective sports.

Trevino was tabbed as the GNAC Defensive Player of the Week in Women's Volleyball following the tremendous run by the program over the past week. The Raiders captured the overall #2 seed in the upcoming conference tournament with a perfect 4-0 week in which they defeated non-conference opponents Brandeis University (3-0) and the University of Southern Maine (3-0) before sweeping both Emmanuel and Saint Joseph's College in a GNAC Tri-Match on Saturday.

Trevino was instrumental throughout the four wins as she averaged 6.17 digs per set in her 12 sets played. The total of 74 digs was highlighted by her 24 dig effort in the three set win over Saint Joseph's College. This is the second time that Trevino has been awarded GNAC Defensive Player of the Week as she garnered the honors back in Week One on September 6th.

Fletcher was named GNAC Rookie of the Week for Women's Soccer after helping her squad to a season-ending victory over Plymouth State on October 26th. The first year forward broke a scoreless tie with just under 14 minutes remaining with her first collegiate goal – an unassisted one which helped close out the Women's Soccer season on a positive note. This was the first time that Fletcher has been named GNAC Rookie of the Week and the first since Nicole Godschall received the honor on October 19, 2015.

Trevino and the Women's Volleyball team will host the seventh seeded Emmanuel College Saint in a GNAC Tournament Quarterfinal matchup on Tuesday night at the Muldoon Gymnasium. Start time is approximately 7:00 PM EST and can be viewed live on our website – www.rivierathletics.com
