Women's Soccer tops Mount Ida, 2-0

(Nashua, N.H.) Senior Maggie Cohoon (Derry, N.H.) scored both Raider goals as the Rivier University Women's Soccer team earned their second Great Northeast Athletic Conference win of the season with a 2-0 decision over visiting Mount Ida College during the rain at Raider Field. The win improves the Rivier overall record to 3-4-2 and a conference mark of 2-3-0. The Mustangs are now 3-7-0 overall and 1-4-0 in the conference.

Cohoon wasted no time in giving the Raiders a lead. The veteran forward was able to collect a pass from classmate Colby Creteau (Nashua, N.H.) and beat the defenders to place a shot just over the goalkeeper's reach with only 2:40 into the contest. She would then add to her team leading goal total with her second goal of the game at 79:11 on a penalty kick.

The goals were able to stand up as Rivier junior goalkeeper Lauren Goodspeed (Merrimack, N.H.) shutout the Mustangs by stopping all five shots she faced on net. Her counterpart, Mount Ida freshman AnnaMarie Seiler (Biddeford, Maine) made eleven saves on thirteen shots on the afternoon.

With back-to-back wins, the Raiders will look to make it a winning streak in their next contest on October 5th against Emmanuel College in Boston, Mass. Mount Ida will look to rebound as they get set to host Albertus Magnus College, also on October 5th.
