Women's Soccer suffers 2-0 loss at Albertus Magnus

(New Haven, Conn.) The Rivier University Women's Soccer team gave up a pair of first half goals in the teams' 2-0 loss on the road this afternoon at Albertus Magnus College in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest at AMC's Celentano Field.

The loss sends the Raiders to a 3-6-2 overall record and 2-5-0 in the GNAC. Albertus Magnus moves up to third place in the conference with a 4-2-1 GNAC mark and 6-6-1 overall.

Albertus Magnus found the back of the net when Liz Nagy (Meriden, Conn.) sent a pass through to Alexya Alves (Naugatuck, Conn.) who then gave her team a 1-0 lead with her third goal of the season. The final goal happened nine minutes later when Bridget Judd collected a deflected shot off the post and buried the rebound for her first goal of the season.

Raider junior netminder Lauren Goodspeed (Merrimack, N.H.) made a remarkable twelve saves on the afternoon as she was able to keep the Falcons off the board for the final 70+ minutes of the game. AMC's Lexie Fenn (Oakville, Conn.) turned away both shots that Rivier was able to place on net for her third shutout of the year.

It will be a quick turnaround time for the Raiders as they will host Johnson and Wales University in a Columbus Day matinee on Monday afternoon. Game time is set for 1pm at Raider Field.
