Women's Volleyball powers their way past Keene State

(Keene, N.H.) The Rivier University Women's Volleyball team won their third consecutive game and 14th of the season this evening as they defeated Keene State College in four sets at Spaulding Gym. Rivier is now 14-1 on the season while the Owls drop to 9-7. The win also secured the Raiders as the best Division III Women's Volleyball team in the Granite State with a perfect 6-0 record against other D3 schools in the state.

The two programs traded 25-23 scores over the first two sets but the Raiders were able to steal the final two sets by scores of 25-13 and 25-14 to lock up the win.

Senior Lauren Silverman (Chelmsford, Mass.) continues her torrid pace along the net as she led the team with 14 kills and a .357 hitting percentage to go along with her four total blocks. Classmates Dana Mott (Medway, Mass.) and Molly McCormack (Ballston Lake, N.Y.) contributed with 13 and 8 kills, respectively. Directing the offensive attack was sophomore setter Hayley Macken (Clifton Park, N.Y.) who dealt 38 assists on the evening. On the defensive front, the Raiders received double-digit dig efforts from four student-athletes. Junior libero Bethany Trevino (Westminster, Colo.) controlled the back line with 23 digs while McCormack added 14 and Macken with 11. Also contributing with 11 digs was junior Madison Soucy (Tolland, Conn.).

The Raiders will return to the Muldoon Gymnasium for the first time since September 17th this weekend as they host both Westfield State University and the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth in a non-conference tri-match. The first game, which is against Westfield State, will begin at 11am.
