Men's Lacrosse defeat Saint Joseph's 13-3

(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier Men's Lacrosse team defeated the visiting Saint Joseph's College (Me.) Monks by the score of 13-3 at Raider Field. With the win, the Raiders improve their season record to 10-2 (2-2 GNAC). The Raiders also have extended their current win streak to 5 games. As for the Monks, they drop to 5-5 (2-3 GNAC).

Rivier was the first to record a goal in this game when Rob Auer (Salem, N.H.) off of a great feed from Kevin Dembkoski (Salem, N.H.) was able to put a great shot past goalie Ethan Rettew (Ephrata, Pa.) Jake O'Brien (Andover, Mass.) was able to put tie the game up for the Monks with 1 minute remaining in the first quarter. From there, Rivier would rally and put together a string of great offensive and defensive possessions. Goals from Joe Kelland (Watertown, Mass.), William Ryan (Dorchester, Mass.), Cody Lynch (Salem, N.H.), and Tyler Tambouris (Hooksett, N.H.) gave the Raiders a dominant 5-1 lead.

Joe O'Reilly (Suffern, N.Y.) scored the lone goal for the Monks in the second quarter. The goal also was able to end the Rivier streak at 4. Unfortunately for the Monks, this would be last goal scored for them until the very last quarter. Rivier extended their lead to nine goals with an impressive 5 goal 3rd quarter. A pair of goals by Cody Lynch (Salem, N.H.) and a pair of goals by Joe Kelland (Watertown, Mass.) pushed this game too far out of reach for the Monks.

Rivier started off the 4th quarter with a great man-up goal cashed in by Kyle Graham (Londonderry, N.H.) Joe Kelland (Watertown, Mass.) and William Ryan (Dorchester, Mass.) scored the final goals for the Raiders at the 8:23 mark, and the 5:32 mark. Jake O'Brien (Andover, Mass.) scored the final goal for the Monks, but it was not enough as Rivier was able to seal the 10 goal victory.

The Raiders had great performances turned in by Tyler Tambouris (Hooksett, N.H.) who was able to record 1 goal and 3 assists for Rivier. Cody Lynch (Salem, N.H.) was able to record the hat-trick for the Raiders with 3 goals. Joe Kelland (Watertown, Mass.) recorded 4 goals for the Raiders while Kevin Dembkoski (Salem, N.H.) was able to record 3 assists. Kyle Graham (Londonderry, N.H.) continued his excellent play again by leading all scorers with an outstanding 2 goals and 5 assists.

Saint Joseph's had good performances turned in by Jake O'Brien (Andover, Mass.) who was able to lead all Monks with 2 goals and 1 assist. Joe O'Reilly (Suffern, N.Y.) was able to record 1 goal and 1 assist for the Monks.

For their next contest, the Rivier Men's Lacrosse team will travel to play the defending GNAC champion Emmanuel College on April 8th at 7:00pm. As for the Monks, they will travel to play Southern Maine on April 8th at 3:30pm.
