Men's Lacrosse clip Eagles 19-8

(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier Men's lacrosse team defeated the visiting Daniel Webster College Eagles this evening by the score of 19-8 at Raider Field. With the win, the Raiders were able to shut down their cross-town rival, and improve their record to an impressive 9-2 on the season. As for the Eagles, who fell on the wrong side of this matchup, fell to 4-4 on the season.

This was a very big game for both the Raiders and Eagles. Although this was not a conference game for either team, and would not affect their conference standings in anyway, it was still a very crucial game for both as bragging rights were on the line. The game began in favor of Daniel Webster as Storm Adams (Akwesasne, Que.) was able to put the Eagles on top 1-0 at the 9:34 mark. Tyler Tambouris (Hooksett, N.H.) off of an excellent feed from Kyle Graham (Londonderry, N.H.) put the Raiders on the board and leveled the scoring at 1-1. Goals by Storm Adams (Akwesasne, Que.) and Anthony Cotoni (Groton, Mass.) at the 3:37 mark and 44 second mark gave the Eagles back the lead. An unassisted Cody Lynch (Salem, N.H.) goal cut the Eagles lead to 3-2 at the end of the first.

The second quarter was dominated by Rivier in this one. The Raiders, who struggled at times in the first quarter on offense, finally found a rhythm and outscored the Eagles 5-2. Two Kyle Graham (Londonderry, N.H.) goals and two goals from teammate Joe Kelland (Watertown, Mass.) gave Rivier the 7-5 lead heading into halftime.

Kyle Graham (Londonderry, N.H.) continued his outstanding play in the second half by burying a shot past goalie Curtis Larade (Merrimack, N.H.) only 16 seconds into the half. Daniel Webster would answer back with a goal of their own when Austin Doody (Bourne, Mass.) scored a man-up goal at the 9:53 mark. Unfortunately for the Eagles, the Raiders, led by Kyle Graham (Londonderry, N.H.) would go on to finish the 3rd quarter outscoring Daniel Webster 6-1. During the run, Kyle Graham (Londonderry, N.H.) was able to net 3 goals for the Raiders. A man-up goal by Tyler Tambouris (Hooksett, N.H.) and another man-up goal by Joe Kelland (Watertown, Mass.) pushed the Raider lead to 13-7. With under a minute to play in the quarter, William Ryan (Dorchester, Mass.) put the finishing touches on an outstanding quarter by the Raiders, as he scored his second goal of the game.

The 4th quarter was more of the same for the Raiders in this one. Using some excellent ball movement and speed, the Raiders were able to simply pick apart the Eagle defense. Their efforts led to a 5-1 scoring advantage over the Eagles in the fourth. Kyle Graham (Londonderry, N.H.) was back on the score sheet yet again as he was able to finish off his 7th goal of the game beating Curtis Larade (Merrimack, N.H.) at the 14:27 mark. Goals by Joe Kelland (Watertown, Mass.), Rob Auer (Salem, N.H.), Tyler Tambouris (Hooksett, N.H.), and Cody Lynch (Salem, N.H.) rounded out the impressive scoring night for the Raiders in this one. Storm Adams (Akwesasne, Que.) scored the lone goal for the Eagles in the fourth.

Rivier had excellent performances turned in by Kyle Graham (Londonderry, N.H.) who was able to lead all scorers with an outstanding 7 goals and 2 assists. Joe Kelland (Watertown, Mass.) was able to record 4 goals and 2 assists for the Raiders while teammate Tyler Tambouris (Hooksett, N.H.) scored an additional 3 goals and also added 2 assists to his tally. Cody Lynch (Salem, N.H.) and William Ryan (Dorchester, Mass.) each were able to add two goals for the Raiders. Kevin Dembkoski (Salem, N.H.) finished with 2 assists on the night. Clark Plummer (Londonderry, N.H.) was solid in the net for the Raiders, allowing the Eagles to only score 8 goals on 15 shots.

Daniel Webster had good performances turned in by Anthony Cotoni (Groton, Mass.) who was able to score 4 goals and add 1 assist for the Eagles. Storm Adams (Akwesasne, Que.) scored 3 goals and added 2 assists while Austin Doody (Bourne, Mass.) scored the final goal for the Eagles. Tommy Hanley (Syracuse, N.Y.) finished with 3 assists for the Eagles.

For their next contest, the Rivier Men's lacrosse team will host Saint Joseph's College (Me.) on April 4th at 1:00pm in a GNAC conference matchup. As for the Eagles, they will next be on the road on April 8th to take on Regis College. The game is scheduled for 5:00pm.
