Raiders Pick Up GNAC Win Over Visiting Anna Maria 22 - 7

(Nashua, New Hampshire) The Rivier University Men's Lacrosse team notched another win in the 2015 season with a 22 – 7 win over the visiting Anna Maria College Amcats in a GNAC Conference game. The Raiders are now 8 – 2 (1 – 2 GNAC). Anna Maria falls to 1 – 9 (0 – 4 GNAC) with the loss.

Rivier took the early lead, driving relentlessly at the Amcat goal throughout the 1st quarter and hammering home ten unanswered goals in the opening fifteen minute barrage. The Raiders spread out the attack with eight players contributing to the ten goal run. Rob Auer (SO, Salem, NH) was the first to find the twine, and he was quickly followed by strikes from Josh Martin (FR, Hanover, NH), Cody Lynch (JR, Salem, NH), Liam Ryan (FR, Dorchester, MA), John Cangiamila (SO, Woburn, MA), Kyle Graham (JR, Londonderry, NH) with two strikes, Isaiah Arteaga (SO, W. Hartford, CT) also with two goals, and Kevin Dembkoski (JR, Salem, NH). Rivier closed out the opening quarter with a commanding 10 – 0 lead and never looked back.

The Raiders tallied five more strikes in the 2nd quarter with Cangiamila, Martin, Andy Wells (SR, Wilmington, MA), Adam Fritchy (FR, Wolfeboro, NH), and Tyler Prendergast(FR, Derry, NH) all getting in on the attack. The Amcats added one goal with Alex Rezendes (JR, Nantucket, MA) breaking the ice for the visitors. In the 3rd quarter, Rivier got goals from Chris Jacobson (SO, N. Reading , MA), Joe Kelland (FR, Watertown, MA) with two tallies, and Prendergast also with a pair. The visiting Amcats added two more with goals from Andrew Marcotte (FR, Plainville, MA) and Rezendes. After three the home team was comfortably ahead 20 – 3.

In the 4th quarter, Rivier added two more with Danny Connelly (SR, Bedford, NH) and Auer scoring. The visitors added four more strikes to close out the game with a final scoreline of 22 – 7.

Clark Plummer (JR, Londonderry, NH) was back between the pipes for Rivier, making 5 saves on 8 shots. Martin also logged his first minutes in goal for the Raiders, putting up 3 saves on 7 shots.

With the win, the Raiders improve to 8 – 2 (1 – 2 GNAC) on the season. The loss drops Anna Maria to 1 – 9 on the season. Next up for the Raiders is a visit from cross city foe Daniel Webster College this Thursday, April 2nd, at 7:00 pm. The Amcats also return to action on Thursday night when they travel to Salve Regina University for a 5:00 pm start.
