Seniors honored prior to 3-0 win over UMass-Dartmouth

(Nashua, NH) The Rivier University Women's Volleyball team led by seniors Kenna Finlayson (Derry, NH) and Meghan Farrell (Marlborough, MA) dispatched of the visiting Corsairs of UMass-Dartmouth this evening, 3-0 in front of about 100 people who turned out for Senior Night at the Muldoon Gymnasium.

The Raiders got off to a fast start as they took the first set 25-11. UMass-Dartmouth would fight back in the final two sets as they dropped them by a total of 5 points – 25-22 and 28-26.

Finlayson power the explosive Raider offense as she had 17 kills on the evening. Freshman Emily O'Reilly (San Francisco, CA) had 29 assists and a .750 hitting percentage. Both Finlayson and junior Jessica Amaral (East Providence, RI) recorded 8 digs to lead the team. In her final regular season home game, Farrell had 3 kills and a .400 hitting percentage. Junior Nicole Peacock (Warwick, RI) also played well as she recorded a .667 hitting percentage (4 kills).

UMass-Dartmouth (20-7 overall) was led by freshman Stephanie Antoine (New Bedford, MA) who registered 8 kills. Senior captain Jessica Goncalves (New Bedford, MA) was the assist leader with 21 while freshman Lindsay Boulay (Swansea, MA) had a team high 6 digs. Junior Tahirah Gibson (Norwood, MA) had 6 kills for the Corsairs.

Rivier (20-9 overall, 9-1 GNAC) also honored junior Megan Dudek (West Chesterfield, NH) who is graduating this spring after earning her degree in three years.

The Raiders will return to action tomorrow evening as they travel to Paxton, MA and battle host Anna Maria College and Johnson and Wales University in a pair of GNAC contests. UMass-Dartmouth will resume LEC action on Saturday as they take on Western Connecticut State in a tri-match with Connecticut College.
